Education Program 2009-10

The Stearns History Museum is the only museum outside of the Twin Cities that is nationally accredited. We offer programs using the exhibits and website to help students understand the people, land and livelihood of central Minnesota. The Museum, with two floors of exhibits, a research library and mini-theater is an ideal location for a field trip. Set in a 100-acre park with hiking trails, the grounds make a great place for a class picnic.

Stimulate your students' thirst for knowledge in our Research Library with more then 500,000 photographs, 1,000 precious documents, maps, newspapers and more. Students can visit with an archivist to learn how to do research projects, including those for the National History Day competition. Students may purchase research passes for $5. Passes allow students to visit the Museum's Library at any time during the school year. When making your reservation ask about adding the Research Library to your visit.

Teachers find the Museum Store to be a great resource for Minnesota related books. We have books on Minnesota history, American Indians, and local Stearns County history. Teachers receive an educator’s 10% discount on all items purchased for use in the classroom. Remember to bring your school’s tax exempt number. Touring groups can visit the Museum's store or purchase souvenir gift bags. Contact us for information.
