Swedish seamless brass milk bucket. c. 1860. Brass buckets like this one were highly prized by settlers because they didn't rust and were easy to clean. This pail was brought to St. Cloud by a Swedish immigrant after the Civil War. H. 7", D. 10-3/4".

Tail holder (top). c. 1910. This device was used to secure the cow's tail to its back leg to prevent the milker from being swished in the face. L. 6".

Hobbies (bottom). c. 1900. Farmers attached these chains to a cow's rear legs to prevent kicking. L. 2'.
