Five-gallon milk or cream can. c. 1870-1900. Farmers transported their cream to creameries in cans such as this one. The riveted seams and handles of the early milk cans allowed dirt to accumulate, eventually giving milk a bad flavor. H. 1'8", W. 10".

Red Wind Union Stoneware five-gallon crock. c. 1900-1910. This crock was used as a cream can on the Dullinger farm near St. Joseph. H. 1'5", W. 11".

Superior sealed twelve-quart cream can. c. 1890. The inverted can cover and narrow neck forced air out of this style of can to prevent churning during transit. H. 12-1/2", W. 8-3/4".
